David B. Smith Gallery was thrilled to participate in the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair in Miami, Florida this past week. The gallery featured works by Laura Ball, Christina Empedocles, Gregory Euclide, Paul Jacobsen, Hong Seon Jang, Kris Lewis, and Michael Theodore. A few works are still available and a selection of exhibited works can be viewed on our PULSE Miami exhibition page. Please contact the gallery to inquire about availability.
In The Denver Post, Ray Mark Rinaldi states, “The David B. Smith Gallery is on a roll, and its new show features the drawings of Christina Empedocles, who makes odd and evocative works with wax pencils. Empedocles’ subject matter crosses a lot of lines, from pop culture movie posters to natural subjects like birds and zebras. But she brings it all together with the consistent precision of her renderings and her own personal twist. She crinkles, tears and cuts out in a way that makes you rethink the time and place where familiar objects exist….”
We are thrilled to share that Christina Empedocles’ drawing Hill Auditorium 3-18-89 raised $5,000 for the MCA Denver in their annual gala auction. The 14 x 14 inch wax pencil on paper work was donated by David B. Smith Gallery.
