Emily Joyce (b. 1976, Arlington, IL) attended the Glasgow School of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design, where she received her BFA in painting. Since 1999, her work has been included in numerous exhibitions at galleries and institutions throughout the US and in Europe. Some highlights include: Parallel Play, Benton Museum of Art (Claremont, CA), Aftereffect: Georgia O’Keeffe and Contemporary Painting, Museum of Contemporary Art (Denver), Human Resources (Los Angeles), David B. Smith Gallery (Denver), Inman Gallery (Houston), Sara Meltzer Gallery (New York), Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (Berkeley), The Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), Art Pace (San Antonio), The Tang Teaching Museum (Saratoga Springs, NY), Caroline O’Breen Gallery (Amsterdam), The Palais de Tokyo (Paris), and Glassbox (Geneva). Her book of visual poems, A Cigar Caught in The Lilies, was published by Hesse Press (Los Angeles) in 2019.
